It's no surprise that glamorous waves and elegant chignons were the most popular hairstyles at Sunday's Golden Globes, but Nicole Richie, Reese Witherspoon and Zooey Deschanel took a major beauty risk, opting for unexpected looks instead.

Witherspoon showed off her sexy side in a red hot Zac Posen gown accented by va-va-voom bedhead waves. Adir Abergel for Frederic Fekkai used Fekkai COIFF Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray and a 1-inch curling iron to create the effect.

And then there's New Girl's Deschanel, who went for a shorter haircut, dramatic blunt bang and what appeared to be sideburns (yes, sideburns).
